“Being a single mom at 19, loneliness was the biggest struggle along with all the unknowns. I know you can be lonely even married, but being single and young is a terrible combination for depression to flourish. Young Moms…being Real offered me a group with others in a similar walk. I was taught life skills(changing a tire, growing vegetables, couponing, etc.) that would help me reach the point that I could take care of myself and child well, not just being in survival mode. I was also matched up with a mentor who helped me set up goals and held me accountable.”
